A “Sector Deal” and a creative precariat : shaping creative economy policy in the UK since 2010
In January 2020, Professor Morag Shiach, Director of Network, gave a lecture in Paris that analysed the development of policies for the creative economy in the UK over the past ten years. The lecture has been published here.
The diversity of creative economy policies across different parts of the UK is foregrounded, as well as the contested nature of their homogeneity, as seen from the outside. It thus challenges the notion that there is one ‘UK model’ that can be readily exported and applied in different national
contexts.
