About Network

Network is the Centre for the Creative and Cultural Economy at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). It has been built on existing creative economy connections at QMUL established through Creativeworks London, London Creative and Digital Fusion, and through research activities in its School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Centre for Commercial Law Studies, School of Geography, School of English and Drama, School of Business and Management, and People’s Palace Projects.

Network supports the growth of a strong, sustainable and socially inclusive creative economy in partnership with researchers, creative practitioners, entrepreneurs, private companies, cultural organisations and policymakers across a range of projects, events and studies.

Network has the capacity and the experience to support the development of cross-disciplinary approaches to pressing challenges within the creative economy.

Network can bring particular experience and expertise to collaboration, cocreated research, and the support of creative-economy innovation in East London and the Thames Estuary.

Network will build new partnerships, helping researchers and creative economy business that could benefit from collaborating to find each other.

Network is committed to working in close partnership with Schools, with relevant Centres and professional services teams across QMUL.

Network aims are to:

  • Provide leadership for the further development of work with, on, and for the creative economy at QMUL.
  • Increase the number of high-quality partnerships (local, national, and international), and support network-building focused on the creative economy.
  • Engage closely with relevant policymakers in the design, implementation, and dissemination of research on the creative economy.
  • Provide support for research grant applications related to creative economy,and share approaches and outcomes from funded projects.
  • Build the profile and reputation of QMUL and its partners through conferences,workshops, seminars, working papers, policy papers and other publications.
  • Promote interdisciplinary research, KE, and educational activities related to thecreative economy at QMUL.
  • Promote engagement and collaboration with creative organisations in EastLondon and beyond.
